7/6 Service interruption

Dear Costumers:

Please be aware that a fiber cut between 165 Halsey and Parsippany has taken down our primary internet carrier. We are presently sending traffic over our secondary back up carrier and services are running, albeit slower than normal. We understand many subscribers are working at home and this has strained our bandwidth utilization. We are diligently working to re-route our traffic to spread the bandwidth load to a third source. We anticipate this work will be done in 45 minutes and at that time speeds will increase. Thank you for your patience.

The fiber cut was found in Parsippany about 6.5 miles away from the carrier’s hub. The repair team will be at the location in 30 minutes and we anticipate it could take up to four hours for them to complete fixing the fiber.

Presently internet traffic is working on two of our redundant connections, one through our secondary carrier via microwave and the other via fiber on the street. Our engineering team has done their best to load share the bandwidth between the two back up circuits. At this time, reduced bandwidth should be available for all of our subscribers. Low bandwidth activities like email or basic web browsing should function normally but high bandwidth activities like HD streaming and online gaming will have slower than normal buffering times and potentially high latency.

We will update you when the issue is resolved and your normal bandwidth is restored. Thank you for your patience.

Please be advised that you may experience some Video service interruption due to our upstream provider engaging in maintenance and repair on a fiber cable that was damaged by steam in Manhattan.

Date – Time: Monday, November 25th, 2019 at 11:00 pm EST and Tuesday, November 26th, 2019 at 4:30 am EST.

7/10/2019 Subscriber Outage 7/11/19 UPDATE- service restored

We are currently experiencing a service interruption our engineers currently investigating the situation.We will continue to update this page as we find out more information.

As of 5:50pm Lightpath (our upstream provider) had yet another outage. We understand that these outages are cumbersome on our subscribers and have been working to eliminate them.

As of 6:25pm we were able to reroute traffic to an alternative provider, restoring services. Be advised in order to make this change quickly several subscribers needed to have a double NAT. This may affect some online gaming or VPN services. We will revert the NAT changes once the incoming circuit from Lightpath is restored.

As of 11:55am 7/11/2019 circuit from Lightpath is restored.
If your service is not working please reboot your CPE.

6/3/2019 Subscriber Outage – 3:51 AM Update 06/04 Service restored

We are currently experiencing a service interruption our team responded to at 6:46 pm. Our engineers have reviewed the status of the GCB network and determined that the outage is a result of our upstream provider. We are currently communicating with them to find out the cause of the issue and an ETA of repair. We will continue to update this page as we find out more information.

Additionally, improvements in the GCB network involving BGP on this fiber up-link are in the works and we will be releasing the notes on these upgrades once the outage is resolved.

8:46 pm Update: Currently repair teams have been dispatched to the Lightpath Head End in Newark. They are equipped with OTDR and prepared to splice and repair the fiber lines tonight if necessary.

10:30 pm Update: The repair team is at the Lightpath Head End in Newark. They shooting light through the fiber and searching for the break.

11:20 pm Update: No news from the repair team. The good news is that our engineering team has successfully redirected several subscriber IPs to our alternate carrier and has confirmed the restoration of services. Our team is now scripting the changes so that we can apply the Layer 2 config changes to all CPE’s (on premise equipment) remotely. Over the next hour all of our subscribers with dynamic IPs (more than 90% of the network) should be restored, it will take longer for those with static IPs.

3:51 am: Fiber team was able to roll the circuit to spare fibers by-passing the fiber cut.

2/13/2019 Solar Outages and Cellular Maintenance

We want to inform you that from February 28 through March 9 predicted sun outages will affect some of our cable channels. These outages are caused by a phenomenon called a “solar satellite interference.” These brief outages occur when the sun passes directly behind satellites transmitting cable signals. When the sun is aligned with a satellite, solar radiation, an energy the sun is emitting, interferes with the satellite’s signal and thus causes a brief signal outages. This may manifest itself in a temporary disruption of services and/or pixelization.

Additionally we want to inform you that the uplink site for Outdoor Channel, Sportsman Channel and World Fishing Network is conducting generator maintenance on Monday, March 4, 2019, April 1,2019 and May 6, 2019 from 10:00am MT to 11:00am MT. We do not anticipate any impact to channel services during these maintenance operations. In the event you experience any defect with our Network signals please let us know as soon as possible.
